What a great way to start thinking about the holiday season by making fun shirts with your little ones! My neighbor & I sat down on Friday and made turkey shirts with our kids. It was so easy! And I am not the craftiest person around.
You will need the following:
*a plain tshirt - you pick the color! *Craft glue *Felt - Brown, tan, red, yellow & orange (we like the felt that has adhesive on one side) *Fake leaves - we used garland that was on clearance at the craft store *Moveable eyes
Directions We bought plain white t-shirts, washed & dryed them (do not use fabric softener in the dryer when you wash them. The wax on the sheets prevents the felt & leaves from staying stuck after being glued.)
Next we placed a piece of cardboard inside the shirt - to help keep it firm.
Next you have to make the turkey body parts. To help with this process, I created a template for the head, body, nose, feet & waddle and uploaded it to this page. Simply print out the template and cut out the felt pieces accordingly. Use the craft glue or if you purchased felt with adhesive (simply press the parts on) to adhere parts of the turkey to the shirt and glue in the following order: leaves, feet, body, head, waddle & nose.
We used a marker for the nose "holes" and those moveable eyes you can find at the craft store. Or you could use felt for the eyes as well.
Viola! You have a turkey shirt! A perfect craft for the Thanksgiving holiday!
